For First Unity membership, there are no requirements other than:
- A desire to know God,
- To be willing to unfold spiritually, and
- To align in Spirit’s Truth of Being.
Unity offers no prescribed doctrine or creed other than to seek the Truth and to follow the only commandments Jesus gave us: “And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength. This is the first commandment. And the second, like it, is this: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no other commandment greater than these.” Mark 12:30-31 
Unity people unite so that we may more effectively minister to the needs of others and benefit mutually through spiritual communion. We unite to work together, to support one another; we unite to join in our prayers, thoughts, and spiritual powers for the enrichment of our own lives and to bless all humankind. In this manner we strive to become a force for good – to work for Godness and goodness in the world. 
We are an unapologetically inclusive spiritual community. Membership is not a requirement to attend any of the services, workshops, classes or activities at First Unity Church of St. Louis. However, those who join often feel a more powerful sense of connection and purpose. In addition, benefits to membership are:
- Eligibility to vote at the Annual Meeting
- Eligibility to serve on the First Unity Board of Trustees (according to our by-laws)
- Receiving a personal, monthly Prayer Call (if desired) from a highly-trained Prayer Chaplain
