Prayer is the foundation of Unity. It is a simple, normal activity of the mind and heart of everyone who desires to be a better person, to understand life and living, to live more richly. Prayer is your inner awareness that the spirit of truth, of which Jesus spoke, is not only with you but within you, ready to teach you all things. “The Spirit of truth. . . will guide you into all the truth. . . and he will declare to you the things that are to come” (Jn. 16:13).
In this class, we will explore the universal practice of prayer and learn what Unity teaches about prayer. This class is required if you are being led to become a Prayer Chaplain and you have not already taken this class. Please plan to join us on Saturday, September 14th, from 9 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., to refresh and inspire your prayer life.
On Thursday, September 19th, at 6:45 p.m., we will begin a new six-week book discussion series. In his book, The Art of Abundance: 10 Rules for a Prosperous Life,
Dennis Merritt Jones explains that we all essentially want the same things: freedom, inner peace, and a life filled with purpose and meaning. He proposes that a life of wholeness and peaceful satisfaction is readily available to us–we just need the eyes to see it and the faith to claim it. This book will help readers open their eyes to the limitless abundance that lies waiting just beyond their current belief system.
Books will be available for purchase in the church bookstore or you may order one online. Anne Hartupee, Licensed Unity Teacher, will be facilitating the discussions.
Dates for each discussion are:
o Thursday, September 19, 6:45 p.m. to 8:45 p.m.
o Saturday, September 28, 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.
o Thursday, October 10, 6:45 p.m. to 8:45 p.m.
o Thursday, October 17, 6:45 p.m. to 8:45 p.m.
o Wednesday, October 30, 6:45 p.m. to 8:45 p.m.
o Thursday, November 7, 6:45 p.m. to 8:45 p.m.
Our spiritual gifts are not a limited and defined group of abilities. Rather, they are any ability the Spirit gives you to express your faith in order to strengthen another person. This workshop will begin with the journey of discerning your primary spiritual gifts. It will then invite you into being a steward of those gifts by creating ways to ground your gifts into a daily routine and identify ways that you can share your gifts with others.
This workshop will be offered on Sunday, October 6th, from 12:15 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. A light lunch will be provided before the workshop begins. If you plan to attend, we request that you add your name to the sign-up sheet that will be available in the church foyer three weeks before the workshop.
